Bryce Canyon National Park is highlighting the incredibly fascinating world of a Utah prairie dog colony, from their social system to complex language. Utah prairie dogs are considered “keystone species” that perform a variety of important ecological functions including soil aeration which helps plants grow, providing prey and places to live for other animals, and maintaining meadow ecosystems.

Half Marathon: 6:00A.M. - Starts at Ruby's Inn, Bryce - Ends in Cannonville Park. The 1/2 Marathon starts on Hwy 63, Bryce. Start elev. 7,652 ft - Finish at 5,800 ft. 5K Run/Walk: 6:30A.M. - 5K Run/Walk in Cannonville. If you're not interested in competing for cash, or would simply rather endure a shorter distance, start at 6:30 AM in Cannonville for the 5K Run/Walk. The 5K is an out and back in Cannonville on the road to Kodachrome State Park.

Bryce Canyon's 6th annual GeoFest is scheduled for Friday July 17 and Saturday July 18, 2015. Join park rangers for guided hikes, family-friendly geology programs, bus tours with a geologist, evening programs with special guest speakers, as well as exhibits and family oriented activities at the visitor center. Tentative Schedule of Events (subject to change - all events both days except as noted): Canyon Geology Hikes: 8:30 a.m. (meet at General Store) Mossy Cave Hikes: 9 a.m. (sign-up required) Geology Bus Tours: 9 a.m. & 2 p.m. (3-1/2 hours, reservations required) Exhibits, Information & Family Fun: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Visitor Center Plaza) Geology for Kids: 10 a.m. (free ticket required) Geology Talks: 11:30 a.m. & 2 p.m. at Sunset Point Evening Programs: 8 p.m. at Bryce Canyon Lodge

Either way you will experience scenery and trails like you have never seen before. Garfield County trails border Bryce Canyon National Park and is home to Casto Canyon, one of the top ten most scenic trails in the U.S. Join us in the evening for the ATV Rodeo. Enter and compete yourself or just cheer on friends, which you are sure to make a few new ones. There will also be great deals from our Vendors and Sponsors, Food, Entertainment, and more for the entire family to enjoy. Poker Run will be held on Saturday with cash and prizes!!

THE MARATHON- starts near Hell's Backbone Grill in Boulder, Utah. The entire course is on Scenic Byway 12. THE 10-MILER- Begins at the Head of the Rocks scenic outlook and finishes in Escalante.
